Leader in Me
Startzville Elementary became a Leader in Me school in 2015. The Leader in Me is a whole-school transformation model, developed in partnership with educators, that empowers students with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st Century. The Leader in Me redefines what school greatness means.
At Startzville, we instill the Leader in Me mindset with each student. Students are given leadership roles throughout the school. Activities and events are student-led and student-driven. We also work hard to educate our families on the Leader in Me mindset by offering a 7 Habits Parent class each school year. We also provide materials for families to reinforce the 7 Habits at home.
In 2018, Startzville achieved Lighthouse Status. All schools earning this status have demonstrated the nine Lighthouse School Criteria through the Franklin Covey Leader in Me program. This includes a Lighthouse Team, providing a leadership environment, having integrated instruction and curriculum, staff collaboration and training, student leadership, parent/family involvement, goal tracking, measurable results, and leadership events.
We encourage families to become familiar with the 7 Habits. You can find more information on the Leader in Me website at https://www.theleaderinme.org/.
